Organizing your coupons

One of the toughest things to do when learning to coupon is trying to find a way to organize all those coupons. There are many different methods you can use/try until you find the one that is right for you. Here are a few ideas to organize them.


Whole inserts- This is my preferred method.  I personally do not have time to clip every coupon every week and nor do I use every coupon I have.  Other people use more coupons or trade them so they find it beneficial to clip them all right away.  I have a binder with the clear report covers that I simply slip the entire insert into and then label it with the date. (Don't fret if you forget the date of an insert it is listed on the spine).  This way when I do matchups I simply flip to that date pull out the insert and find the coupon I need.

Accordion file system- Some people have found an accordion style system helps them to stay organized.  I have seen some list by product, alphabetically, or by category.  This again is up to you depending on what makes the most sense or seems simplest.

Baseball card inserts- Some people use a binder with the card inserts and then categorize or alphabetize their coupons that way. 


*I prefer to further organize by the store once I do my matchups and determine which stores I will be using which coupon.

Your organization method might depend on how many inserts you do every week and how EXTREME you want to get. 

Again their are no rules to organizing only tips.

Getting started with coupons

Here are some tips for those that want to learn to coupon but don't know where to start. -Always buy newspapers in even increments or pairs. -this is important because if you have buy one get one deals you will want to have an even number of coupons to use. - People will tell you that you have to buy things you won't use or need. -The items you see in pictures on coupon sites that seem odd or random were likely either free items or money makers. -You do not HAVE to buy anything you do not want to but if it is FREE or you are getting PAID to take it then why not?!?! -These items may not be useful to you but your local church, shelter, or non profit organization may desperately need these items. -DO NOT throw away coupons unless they are long expired -Military personnel can use coupons at the commissary for 6mos. after expired. -Each store is different so know their policies. Print them and keep them in your coupon binder. -Find a blog site that is relevant to you. Different areas of the country have different retailers.
